Central America & The Caribbean
The first trip I flew completely solo. I was at home in Texas on the night of the US election results in 2016 (yes, THAT night). The next day I hopped the border and flew over to Mexico, where I started my journey. I then travelled down the coast, through Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama.
This part of the world is full of laidback warmth and energy. There’s sun, sand and sea, of course, but also volcanoes, jungles, beautiful towns, friendly people, amazing food (hello Mexico)… the size makes it all the more accessible. You could do a decent chunk in a few weeks, making this a perfect option if you’re planning an office break or taking time off from uni.
